Year 5 – Think Tank Trip
February 27, 2020
Dear Year 5 Parents and Carers,
On Thursday 27th February 2020, Year 5 will be visiting the Thinktank Museum as part of our Science topic on Changing Materials. We will be travelling on the train and spending the day visiting the exhibitions, as well as having a practical, hands-on workshop on solids, liquids and gases lead by museum staff.
As our itinerary runs from 10am until 2pm, we will be leaving school at 8.50am sharp to catch the 9.21am train, and will be aim to be back at school somewhere between 2.45pm and 3.15pm. It is therefore crucial that children arrive at school by 8.40am at the latest, in plenty of time to register. We have chosen to use the train as a more cost effective mode of transport, to model environmentally sustainable transport, and to give the children a different experience of the City. As the children will be walking to and from the train station, please ensure that they have comfortable, sensible footwear. On this occasion, trainers will be acceptable along with normal school uniform.
The children will require a snack and a packed lunch on the day, (no cans, bottles or fizzy drinks please). If your child is entitled to a free school lunch, please indicate below.
If your child would like to bring some spending money, there is a maximum limit of £5. Your child will be responsible for looking after their own money.
The cost for the visit and workshop is £9, and transport is £2.50, totalling £11.50. Please return the slip to agree your contribution. Please note, if we have not received enough contributions by Friday 7th February, we may have to cancel the trip. We will need a small number of parent/carer volunteers – please indicate if you are able to assist on this occasion and we will contact you if you are required (names will be pulled from a hat if a large number of volunteers come forward).
