KS1 Christmas Performances

Dear Parents/Carers,

We know that you are all aware of the adaptations we are making to school life as a result of the flooding that occurred in the infant block at half term. It has been lovely to see the children eating together in the marquee this week and having jacket potatoes if they wanted a hot lunch.

Although the marquee is working well for lunches and we are looking at ways of using it to support our curriculum and wider activities, it doesn’t provide the same flexibility as the hall normally does. We are currently looking at how we manage a number of events, particularly in the run up to Christmas, so that parents and children are still experiencing the joy and excitement that it brings.

Our Year 1 and 2 children will be performing at Lyndon Church on the morning of Wednesday 18th December (originally shown as Tuesday 17th on the forward planner) but the church space does not enable us to welcome parents (other than those supporting with walking to and from the church) to the performance. Previously, the children have performed the Christmas story to parents/carers in the hall. However, as we are not able to use our hall this year, we are unable to perform to parents as we would normally do.

The marquee has a capacity of approximately 270 people. With all of our KS1 children and staff in there, it significantly reduces the capacity of the space for us to then invite parents to attend. With this in mind, we are seeking parents' views as to whether you would prefer to see the children sing in the marquee with a strict limit on those attending (one parent/carer per child due to capacity and fire regulations) or for the children to sing outside, one afternoon after school without a limit on the number of parents/carers who are able to attend.  Please be aware that whether the children perform in the marquee or outside, parents/carers would need to stand.

Please can we ask you to share your view using the link below by Friday 6th December.

We are aware that neither option will allow the performance to be quite the same as normal but we thought it was important to seek your opinion before we start to make arrangements.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely
