Learning Together, Achieving More.
We want to provide our children with a rich, engaging and empowering curriculum that builds on their knowledge, understanding and skills whilst catering for their needs and interests.
We recognise that the curriculum we deliver is the toolkit we send our children out into the world with. It reflects our context, core values and the kind of citizens we want them to be. We have to be ambitious for them and prepare them for an ever changing world.
Our curriculum aims at Olton Primary are:
Our six school values underpin our curriculum and all aspects of life in school and are our key drivers.
Respect – Are pupils able to work alongside others and be respectful and reflective of differing views and beliefs?
Responsibility – Are pupils able to understand their role in school and within the community so they can make a difference to themselves and others?
Perseverance – Are pupils able to use strategies to overcome difficulties to enable them to succeed?
Love – Are pupils able to demonstrate a love of learning and a love of self?
Empathy – Are pupils able to connect with others and create a supportive climate in which all feel valued and understood?
Positivity – Are pupils ambitious and keen to embrace challenge?
Within each subject area, knowledge organisers show how teachers identify the key knowledge and developmental skills within each unit as well as previous learning links in order for pupils to be confident learners. Our units of work build on prior knowledge and skills acquired throughout a pupils’ learning journey at Olton. We focus on revisiting key elements of learning to support retention of information and develop long term memory.
