We are writing to update you on an important and exciting next step for Olton Primary School.

Over recent months, Olton Primary School and Summit Learning Trust have been working collaboratively with the purpose of enhancing learning outcomes and experiences for all the children in our care.

Building upon this early work, and following careful consideration, Olton Primary School and Summit Learning Trust are now pursuing plans for the school to join the Summit family on a permanent basis.

As you may know, Summit Learning Trust is a local, high-performing trust with a proven track record of supporting schools in its family. Its experience, expertise and resources mean it is well placed to work in partnership with Olton Primary School so that both the school and trust benefit from shared expertise and resources. We want to reassure you that your child’s day-to-day experience at school will remain consistent, with a continued focus on high-quality teaching and learning, and ensuring every learner is supported to succeed.

In terms of next steps, we are confident that this partnership will have a positive impact for the school. Therefore, we are facilitating a period of formal consultation from 1^st – 22^nd September 2026, providing an opportunity for staff, parents and carers and stakeholders to ask any questions and we would encourage you to participate in this process.

Should you wish to speak with us you are invited to attend Olton Primary School to meet with representatives from the school and trust on Monday 7^th September 2026 between 3:30 and 5:00pm. Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,

I am writing to let you know about a delay to this year's Key Stage 2 (KS2) test results, which affects all schools nationally.

Schools were due to receive results on 7^th July 2026. However, Pearson Education Limited, the provider responsible for administering, marking, and returning Key Stage 2 results to schools has informed the Department for Education of a delay affecting the national system used to make results available to schools. Results will now be available on 16^th July 2026.

We know this is frustrating, and we share that feeling. But it will not get in the way of celebrating everything your child has achieved at the end of their primary school journey. Importantly, the delay is not related to the quality of the tests or the accuracy of pupils' results. Test papers have been marked in line with usual processes.

We normally send the KS2 reports home once we have the Year 6 SATs results but as we know there is a delay which will take us up to almost the end of term, KS2 reports will be emailed home on Thursday and the results will follow once available.

This will not impact your child’s transition to secondary school and no action is required from parents or pupils. We will share results with you as quickly as possible after we receive them on 16^th July.

Dear Reception Parents and Carers,

As shared in our forward planning document in the Autumn Term, we are delighted to invite you to our ‘Look how far we have come’ Exhibition on Friday 10^th July, from 3:00-4:00pm in the main school hall.

This special event has been organised to celebrate just how far the children have come since starting Reception in the Autumn Term. It is a wonderful opportunity to recognise and share the progress, achievements, and learning journey of every child.

The exhibition does not have a set time slot, as it is a showcase of the children’s work. You are welcome to visit at a time that is convenient for you and explore the displays at your own pace. Please note that the event will finish at 4:00 pm.

You will be able to access the main school hall via the club doors (the entrance positioned next to the staff car park) from 3:00pm onwards.

We very much look forward to welcoming you into school and celebrating the children’s fantastic progress with you.

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are having a lovely weekend. The weather forecast next week looks to be warm- not as hot as a few weeks ago at this stage. We would prefer the children to be comfortable, so for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, children can wear their PE kits for these days. School is open as normal with our usual finishing times. On Friday it is non uniform day in support of our Summer Fayre- cake donations on the day are very welcome. Also if anyone is able to support with the Fayre on Saturday from 11am please contact the school office as we are currently short of helpers.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Today is Olton’s in-school transition day and children who are currently in Nursery up to Year 5 will spend the day in their new classroom with their new teacher.  Many of our Year 6 children will also have a transition day at their secondary school today or tomorrow and you will have been contacted directly by the secondary school about the arrangements for this day.

Although the children will spend the day in their new classes for September, their start and finish times will still be the same as they are at the moment.  This means that even though our Year 2 children will spend the day with their Year 3 teacher, their soft start time is still 8:35am-8:45am and their finish time will still be 3:15pm.

When children arrive in the morning they will go to their current class.  Once everyone is registered, all the children will move to their new classroom to spend the whole day with the teacher they will have next year.  This means that when you collect at the end of the school day, you will need to go to your child’s new classroom or to the playground.

If your child is in the juniors or moving up to Year 3 (Leopards or Pandas), they will need to be collected from the KS2 playground at the end of the day.  If your child is going to be in Gibbons with Mrs Garner from September, please collect directly from the Gibbons’ classroom door in the lower school block (where Mrs Lewis is with Wallabies currently) at 3:15pm.

If your child is currently in Nursery, Reception or Year 1, please collect from their new classroom at 3:15pm.

If you are trying to locate a classroom at the end of the day, Mr Chamberlain and Mrs Gray will be on hand to direct you.  Below is some information which may help you navigate your way around the school site.

• Infant block (side nearest to the road) as you enter from the gate that leads off the main drive the classrooms are in the following order:

Sea Lions, Dolphins, Otters, Meerkats, Bobcats, Lemmings.

• Infant block (side nearest to the field) as you look along with the infant block to your left, the classrooms are in the following order:

Gibbons, Seals, Whales, Penguins, Chameleons/Robins.

We hope that by collecting the children from their new classroom or on the playground will enable you to meet their new teacher at the end of the day.  Please be patient when staff are dismissing the children as teachers will need to check carefully who they are dismissing to, as parents/carers are unfamiliar to them at this stage.  If there is someone different collecting your child today, please make sure you have let the office know and provided a password.

Transition day is designed to help the children familiarise themselves with their new environment and teacher to support a smooth transition in September.  We hope the children have an enjoyable day.

Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,

Please be advised that the Year 6 Leavers Disco will be on Thursday 9^th July from 6.30pm to 8pm. The children do not need to buy a ticket but can bring money with them to buy sweets. We will meet the children at the old junior office entrance and will also dismiss them from here too. Please note that no children will be allowed to walk home after the disco.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Having reviewed safety arrangements for the heatwave we are experiencing which is continuing tomorrow, coupled with higher humidity we will be closing the school to all pupils tomorrow after lunch. This means all pupils must be collected from school at 1:15pm for KS2 and 1:20pm for EYFS and KS1. If you normally collect your Nursery child at 11:30am on a Friday, you can do this as normal.

Over the past few days our attendance has been considerably impacted by the heat and today's attendance is 75%. We know from messages and conversations with parents, they are concerned about the temperatures in school for their children. 

We are really grateful for your support this week and appreciate your understanding in this period of exceptionally hot weather. Despite the continued efforts of staff and pupils to manage the challenging conditions, we are aware these are impacting everyone and the health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff remain our priority.

Whilst children are out of school this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon, they are able to access online programmes to support learning such as Times Table Rockstars and Purple Mash, should you wish them to.

We look forward to school resuming, as normal from Monday, with a week of Sports Days to look forward to.

Please can those parents who have requested to collect their child at the earlier time today collect as follows.

EYFS, KS1 and Wallabies - Please collect your child are usual from their classroom door.

Rest of KS2 - Please collect your child from the junior playground as you would usually.

Please collect any KS2 children first before collecting EYFS or KS1.

Collection time for KS2 is 1:15pm and EYFS/KS1 is 1:20pm. Please try to collect at these times as we want to ensure the school premises is closed and secured as soon as possible to ensure the safety of those children remaining in school.

Good evening everyone,
Having reviewed safety arrangements for the heatwave tomorrow and Thursday, we have made the decision to remain open tomorrow (Wednesday 24th June 2026) but allow collection after lunch (1:10pm for KS2 and 1:15pm for EYFS/KS1) should parents wish to. After School Club will run on Wednesday for those children are already booked in and need to stay. With even hotter temperatures anticipated on Thursday (25th June 2026) we have decided to close the school to all pupils from 1:15pm. All children must be collected on Thursday.

If you would like to collect your child after lunch on Wednesday, you must complete the forms link below by 11.00am tomorrow, so we can organise the children.

Due to the heat expected tomorrow, the lunch menu will change for Thursday 25^th June to a lighter lunch as detailed below.

• Tomato Pasta
• Jacket Potato with cheese, cheese and beans or tuna
• Sandwich with cheese, ham or tuna

All lunches will be served with a side salad and pudding does not need to be ordered and can be chosen on the day.
