Planning for possible snow!- Friday 9th January

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year to you all!  I hope that you managed to have a good break with your families.  It was lovely to welcome all of the children back into school yesterday with a surprise sprinkling of snow.  There are lots of strong suggestions from the Met Office and BBC Weather that on Thursday evening through to Friday morning that our area might be affected by Storm Goretti and this may bring some snow along with it.

In order to be as prepared as we possibly can be for heavy snow that might lead to us making the decision that the school site is either not safe to open, or that travel for both our families and staff is not safe, the following communication will be used to keep you up to date of any plans.

From 6am, our site team and staff who live locally will assess the conditions of the school site and associated roads.  By 7am, if there is a significant risk to opening the school site and ways to make this safer cannot be put into place, we shall use Class Dojo in the first instance to notify everyone.  As a parent myself, time is of the essence in organising any necessary childcare, so please do check Class Dojo.  If school is open as usual, we shall message to  re-assure everyone.

I am hoping that our forward planning and being super organised will mean we will not need to put the plan into action!  In the event of school closure, children across the school will be able to access TT Rockstars in KS2.  Class Teachers may put optional tasks on their class dojo for pupils to access if they wish.  Photographs of snowy adventures and sculptures made in the snow can also be sent in to Class Dojo too.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Chamberlain
