WOW Badges and Five-Day Walking Challenge (17th - 21st May)

Walk to school week Monday 17th – 21st May.

WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It's that easy!

The children love taking part, but we recognise that it is difficult if you have to travel to school in the car because of the distance you love away from school.

If you park the car away from school and walk the last part of the journey this can still count!

Badges earned in September:

Class 1 =18 Class 2 =22 Class 3 =21

Class 5 =24 Class 6=19 Class 7 =19 Class 8 = 14 Class 9 =22 Class 10 =19 Class 11 = 22

3B = 29 3BW = 0 3GM = 28 4A = 11 4C = 19 4W = 29 5B = 28 5PJ = 25 5T = 28 6M = 29 6W = 19

Children in KS1 and KS2 are invited to take part in a 5-day walking challenge as part of walk to school week which runs from 17th – 21st May.

Through the week the children will be introduced to the ‘superpowers’ of walking which will show them how walking makes us ‘super strong’, ‘super smart’, ‘super smiley’, ‘super safe’ and ‘super sustainable’.

Each class will work collectively to make as many walked journeys as possible (cycling and scooting count too!).

In class they will record daily counts and the end of week total on the wall chart. Daily stickers and end of week reward charts will be given to pupils who get involved in the challenge.

Further information for parents and carers, including a Family Walk to School Kit is available at https://www.livingstreets.org.uk/get-involved/family-walkto-school-kit

We hope everyone enjoys getting involved next week.
