Reception and Year 1-6 Admissions
Please note that all admissions for Reception to Year 6 must be applied for directly
through the local authority. The information is available through Solihull Council

Reception class

Our school follows Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council’s admission arrangements for Reception aged children.

Each year, the council publishes information detailing of the admission arrangements for Solihull schools. The information is available from the Solihull Council school admissions team on 0121 704 6693 or from the SMBC website at www.solihull.gov.uk/admissions

You can apply for a place online at http://www.solihull.gov.uk/enrol

Reception application forms are available from the Solihull School admissions Team 12 months before the child is due to start in reception.

Attendance in a school Nursery will not give any priority for a place in the reception class at the same school. A Reception application form must be completed.

Nursery

All Solihull infant and primary schools are now responsible for their own admissions policy. In order to provide as much information as possible for parents, we have published a copy of our policy for admissions, along with information leaflets about the government's 30-hour free childcare. You will also find a copy of the Nursery place application form which needs to be completed and returned to the school. 

School Admissions Deadline Dates 

Nursery Applications 2026

Nursery applications for 2026 open on Wednesday 1st October 2025 and close on Friday 30th January 2026 at 4pm. Please contact the School Office via email 12office@olton.solihull.sch.uk or please refer to the application form and a copy of our Nursery Admission Policy on this page.

Reception Applications 2026

The School Admissions portal is now open for Reception 2026 applications. The closing date is 15th January 2026. Parents need to apply on the portal under the home authority that they live within.

Secondary Applications 2026

Solihull Admissions would like to advise Year 6 parents that the portal is open to apply for secondary 2026 places. The closing date for applications for secondary school is 31st October 2025.  Any applications received after this date are classed as late and may affect the offer they expect to receive.

The Solihull council portal is only for Solihull parents, those living out of borough need to apply through their home authority. The secondary booklet and information about the process can be found on our webpages

Starting primary or secondary school

All secondary schools should have open evening information published on their own websites.
