  • Donations of Treats for Charity Week

    Tue 16 Jun 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

To help us raise money during Charity Week, there will be a sale on the playground after school on the Year 1 playground, this should have been today so apologies that the date has been changed to tomorrow, Wednesday 17th June between 3:10pm and 3:30pm.    There will be sweets, chocolate and cakes for sale so the children (and adults) can enjoy a treat after school.  We would very much appreciate your support in donating homemade or bought cakes, sweets and chocolate bars.  As we will be selling these to the children after school, it would be really helpful if we could have individual chocolate bars rather than large sharing bars and individual cakes e.g. fairy cakes, muffins, mini-rolls, cake bars, cookies etc. rather than larger cakes which would need to be sliced.

If you are able to donate some small cakes for us to sell after school during Charity week, please send them into school tomorrow morning Wednesday 17th June ensuring that the ‘use by date’ is at least until the end of June 2026.  Thank you to parents and carers who have already sent in donations.

Please can we ask that you bring in change to pay for any of the treats as we do not have a card machine.

We are all very much looking forward to charity week and thank you for your support.

    Thank you for your support.

    Yours sincerely,

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear KS2 Parents and Carers,

We are excited to launch our 2026 Charity Week.  The children are going to be voting over the next few days as to which charity they would like to support this year.  In KS2, we always start the week with a sponsored walk around Jubilee Park.  The sun mostly shines during this event and in order to make it happen we ask for at least two additional parent helper volunteers to accompany each of our KS2 classes.

Our sponsored walk will be held on Monday 15th June at 1.30pm.  The walk usually takes about 1 hour and we will be back in school at approximately 2.50pm.  Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed to come on the walk as we have some children who are anxious about this.  If you are able to accompany a particular class on the walk, please could you fill out the attached link below and by Wednesday 10th June.  As ever, this is a wonderful community event, and the walk cannot go ahead without your support.

  • Father's Day Picnic (Meerkats) - Friday 19th June

    Fri 12 Jun 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Father’s Day Picnic (Meerkats)

As shared in our forward planning document in the Autumn Term, we are delighted to invite the special male role models in our children's lives to our Father's Day Picnic on Friday 19th June, from 12:15-12:45pm on the main school field.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate all the special male role models in our children's lives. We understand that Daddies have busy schedules, so if they are unable to attend, we would be absolutely delighted to welcome Stepdads, Grandads, Uncles to join us.

The picnic session will last approximately 30 minutes and will provide a special opportunity for you to spend quality time with your child, making lasting memories together. During the picnic, you will have the chance to share a story, enjoy lunch together, and play a favourite game, creating a relaxed and enjoyable experience for both you and your child.

To help make the occasion extra special, please bring:

    • A picnic blanket
    • Your own lunch (please ensure that all food is nut-free)
    • A favourite book to share with your child
    • A small game to play together (for example: Connect 4, Hungry Hippos, Snap or another favourite family game)

The children will be provided with their own special picnic lunch box from school to enjoy. You will be able to confirm your child's preferred lunch option when completing the attendance form via the link below.

We are pleased to see that the weather is currently forecast to be warm next week, which will make for a lovely picnic experience. However, as this event will take place outdoors, it is weather dependent. Should we experience any inclement weather, we will rearrange the picnic and communicate a new date with you as soon as possible.

Please note that there is one ticket per child. When confirming your attendance, kindly indicate the name of the person who will be attending, along with your child's preferred sandwich option.

Please complete the form below to confirm your attendance:

  • Year 5 & 6 Netball Club

    Thu 11 Jun 2026

    Dear Year 5 & 6 Parents/Carers,

Though the weather is dreadful, Netball club will remain on for anyone who is unable to walk home/be collected. As we do not have access to the school hall, we are unable to play Netball indoors and so if you would like your child to go home at 3:10pm, please advise the school office. Otherwise, I will bring them to the normal gate for a 4.10 finish.

Thank you for your continued support,

  • Junior Sponsored Walk - Jubilee Park- Monday 15th June 2026

    Wed 10 Jun 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

    Charity Week (15th – 19th June 2026)

To launch our whole school Charity Week at Olton, we have planned a Sponsored Walk for the Juniors, which will take place on the afternoon of Monday 15th June at 1:15pm. A separate email went out last week asking for volunteers for each class to join us on the walk. Thank you if you have already replied and can help. During Charity week, children will work together to raise money, develop their teamwork skills and apply their entrepreneurial skills through house markets and other activities.  We will be donating 80% of our profits to the two chosen charities and 20% will be used to support a designated school project. The Junior children will walk around Jubilee Park. Children should wear school uniform as usual, with comfortable shoes. They must bring a coat in case of rain.

As you have already completed a reply slip permitting us to take your child off school premises for local trips, we do not need to seek your permission on this occasion but please contact me if you have any questions.

The event will be closely supervised by staff, but we do require additional help from parents. The walk will take place in the afternoon, leaving at 1:15pm and finishing no later than 2.30pm. If you are able to accompany us and have not already let us know, please use the forms link below:

    Infant Sponsored Events

All of our younger children will be completing a year group sponsored event during the week too. Our Nursery children are completing a sponsored scoot, Reception are doing a sponsored cycle, Year 1 are doing a sponsored bounce and Year 2 a sponsored skip.

Sponsor forms will be given out today and a brochure which outlines the events for the week sent via email. Please encourage your child to get lots of sponsors (but don’t let them collect money from strangers).

Sponsor money should be brought into school no later than Friday 19th June - it is important to know how much we have raised before the charity assemblies on Monday 22nd June when the final amount raised will be announced and we will share the totals with you all.

    Yours sincerely,

  • Year 6 Holdenby House Trip

    Mon 08 Jun 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers

As part of our Year 6 World Studies topic next year,  we are going to be going on a wonderful trip to Holdenby House. The trip will take place on Friday 15th January 2027 and will cost £22 per child which can be paid via Parent Pay. This can be paid in instalments or all at once and must be paid by 16th December 2026. During the day, the children will experience what life was like for WW2 evacuees while taking part in many activities. This is a really great trip, and we know the children will have an excellent day.

We kindly ask that on the day the children come to school dressed as WW2 evacuees. There is no need to purchase an outfit unless you would like to. School uniform can be worn as an outfit if your child would prefer. We ask that children also wear a waterproof coat as part of the day will be outdoors.

If you can volunteer to help at the trip, we would be very grateful. Please indicate this on the form and we will be in touch. If we have more parent volunteers than we are able to take, we will draw names out of the hat.

Children will be required to bring a packed lunch and snack with them including plenty to drink for the day. If your child has free school meals, we will provide a packed lunch.

Children should arrive early to school between 8.20 and 8.30am for a prompt 8.45am departure and will return to school at 3pm for a normal end of the day routine, if your child is normally a walker they will be allowed to walk home unless we are advised of alternate arrangements by yourselves. If for any reason we are delayed on our return, we will be sure to update you with our expected ETA.

Please complete this forms link to give permission for your child to attend.

  • Year 6 Dovehouse Theatre Rehearsal

    Tue 02 Jun 2026

Good afternoon, Parents and Carers in Year 6,

On Monday 29th June, we will be rehearsing at The Dovehouse Theatre for the leavers performance because we won't be able to rehearse there on Thursday 2nd July as it is a transition day.

If you are able to help us walk the children there at 8:45am and then walk them back to school at 2:30pm, we would massively appreciate your help please. Please could you message me on dojo if you are able to help. We don't need anyone to stay at the theatre with us (so there won't be any spoilers!) just to help us to walk to and from.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Kind Regards,
