    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We know that many of our parents wish to support their child’s development at home, and as we had such an uptake for our book bundles last year, we are again providing parents with the opportunity to purchase book bundles which support to develop reading, grammar and maths. The cost of the bundles are £10 each (RRP £14). These bundles include 3 books:

    ·       Reception - Maths, Handwriting and Phonics

    ·       Year 1 - 6- Maths, Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling, Comprehension

If you would like to make a purchase of these book bundles, please complete the Microsoft Form using the following link

    https://forms.office.com/e/sCpVp3VwYF.

We ask that this form be completed by Friday 31st January so that payments can be added to ParentPay. We then ask that all payments be made before Friday 14th February so that we are able to process the order. Unfortunately, if payment has not been received by Friday 14th February, we will not be able to process your order. Once we have received the order from the manufacturer, we will then distribute these to the children to bring home. Please can you complete individual forms for each book bundle you wish to purchase.

    Barcoded Letter

If you do not have a ParentPay account and so would require a barcoded letter, please can you request this from Mrs Chakmak as soon as possible and ensure that the payment has been made by Tuesday 11th February as it can take at least 48 hours to show up on the school account.

    Yours sincerely,

  • World Book Day Orders

    Sat 25 Jan 2025

    Hi all,

This is just a quick reminder that if you haven't already ordered your child their free World Book Day book using the form below, please do so before Thursday 30th January. https://forms.office.com/e/w4wiyM4NS5

    Many thanks
    Miss Jordan

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Parents/Carers,

You will have received an email today all about reading and World Book Day events. We have the opportunity again to order our World Book Day books in advance so the children can come home with a book on this day rather than the voucher. I have copied the information and link below for you.

World Book Day £1 voucher and books
This is a reminder that if you would like your child to bring home one of the £1 books on World Book Day rather than the £1 voucher, please ensure you have pre-ordered the book using the Microsoft Form link https://forms.office.com/e/w4wiyM4NS5.

We must receive your orders by Thursday 30th January 2025. If we haven't received an order from you by this date, we will presume that you do not wish to pre-order and so your child will receive a voucher on the day instead.

On the World Book Day website, they have all the books on offer to us and when you click on each one, it will provide some information about the book and a short video from the author. Please take some time to look through the books and help your child decide which book they would like in exchange for the £1 voucher.
    https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/

This is a fabulous opportunity and I am sure lots of you will take up the opportunity to pre-order these books.

  • Online Booking System for Parents’ Evening Appointments for Nursery to Year 6

    Thu 23 Jan 2025

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We are holding our Spring Term Parents’ Evenings on Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th February 2025 and for these, parents will be able to make an appointment using the online booking system. Appointments will be in person and are offered from 3:30pm – 6:30pm on both evenings. The majority of appointments will take place in the classrooms, but Reception parent meetings will take place in the small hall and Pandas meetings will be held in the computer suite.

Our unique website through which you can book appointments is: https://olton.schoolcloud.co.uk/.

You will log in to the system by adding your details and those of your child, including your child’s date of birth. The parents evening system uses the details we hold within the SIMS school system. If it does not allow you to log in, please check that you have used your child’s full name or tried the legal name and preferred name. You can add in an email address you wish to use for confirmation and reminders of your chosen appointment time.

Attached with this letter is a Parents’ Guide for Booking Appointments which should take you through the process step by step. You will be able to book appointments through the online portal from 4pm on Friday 24th January.

We hope that you find the online booking system quick and easy to use. It should allow you to book the most convenient slot based on availability and for you to co-ordinate appointments, as necessary, if you have more than one child at our school.

If your child is also part of Chameleons class, taught by Miss Jordan, please book an appointment with your child’s class teacher as normal on the online booking system and Miss Jordan will join the class teacher for the appointment time.

If you are having any problems logging in, please contact the school office who can offer support.

    Yours sincerely,

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Does your child love everything Harry Potter? Have they always wanted to attend Hogwarts? This is the evening for them. Olton Primary are hosting an evening which is dedicated to the World of Harry Potter on Thursday 27th February from 7pm – 8pm. As part of the experience, your child will be able to step through the wall of the 9¾ platform into a world of magic. Once in the great hall, just like the books, the children will have the opportunity to taste some delights from Hogwarts including Ollivander’s chocolate wands and Hermione’s polyjuice potion. Throughout the evening, we will complete lots of activities based on Harry Potter and will also have our very own Harry Potter Quiz night with many prizes on offer. Drop off and collection for the event will be based at the Junior Site entrance.

Dressing up for the evening as one of the characters from Harry Potter is not compulsory but it would be great to see as many as possible in Hogwarts colours. There will be a prize for the best dressed.

In order to attend this event, we ask that you complete the online Microsoft form using the link below and pay £4 via ParentPay.  https://forms.office.com/e/m9Kcq4U0aC

Please can you complete the form by Friday 24th January. The payment of £4 will be added to your parent pay account after this date. Please ensure payment of £4 has been made by Friday 31st January 2025. Once the payment has been made, your child will receive their very own Hogwarts invitation to the evening.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Yours sincerely,

    Miss F Jordan

  • Solihull Parent Carer Voice - Coffee & Chat

  • Additional Closure Day (Infant Block)

    Tue 21 Jan 2025

                                                                                       21 January 2025

    Dear Parents/Carers,

As you all know our infant block was flooded in November, when a pipe burst in Nursery causing damage to five of our classrooms and four of our intervention spaces. We are pleased to report that the affected areas have been successfully dried out and remedial building work to refit the classrooms is well underway.

We have been informed, that we will be able to use the affected spaces after half term. In order to facilitate this, it will be necessary to close all of the classrooms in the infant block and the current Year 3 Pandas learning space on Monday 24th February. This will enable large items such as furniture as well as all of the resources to be set up in readiness for the children. Our Local Authority have granted us this so that we can restore a sense or normality as quickly as possible following a term of disruption for our children.

It has been agreed, that we can close the entire infant block to facilitate the unloading of the storage containers on site, which have housed all of the items that were retained from the classrooms. This means that we cannot have children working within this block while this is undertaken. Additional support will be made available to school on Monday 24th February to move the items from the storage containers, as well as from the hall and small hall which are currently being used as learning spaces, so that our classrooms can be fully restored and be ready for the children to use from Tuesday 25th February.

Gibbons, Leopards, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will be in school as normal on Monday 24th February 2025.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the children, staff and yourselves for your support and patience, whilst we have navigated a unique situation which has affected so many aspects of school life. We are very much looking forward to resuming school life and activities as we had originally planned for them in the second half of the Spring Term.

    Yours sincerely,

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Please note there will be no girls football on Monday 20th January because we have a staff meeting.  Girls football will be on as usual next week (Monday 13th January).

  • Pantomime – Thursday 23rd January 2025

    Tue 07 Jan 2025

    Dear Parents/Carers,

In the last couple of years, the children have very much enjoyed the pantomime coming to Olton and this year, once again, we will have the panto in-house again. A number of parents have asked about the children going to the theatre to watch the pantomime. Unfortunately, the cost of tickets and coaches can be prohibitive but we will continue to review this each year.

On Thursday 23rd January 2025, M & M Theatre Productions will be in school delivering two performances of A Christmas Carol.  One for KS2 and one for KS1, Reception and Nursery.  The two performances will enable us to have a smaller number of children in the hall to allow more space. On this day, to facilitate the panto in the hall, our Reception classes and Pandas class will use the marquee as a base for the morning when they are not in the hall watching the panto.

We are requesting a £2.50 contribution per child to cover the cost.  We know from last year’s performance how much the children enjoyed and gained from the experience.  The children love the fun and laughter that comes with the Pantomime and very much look forward to such events.

The £2.50 contribution has been showing on ParentPay since September to give parents as much time to pay as possible. We ask that payments are made on or before 10th January 2025.  As per the email at the end of last week, if you require a barcoded letter, please contact us so we can arrange to send this home in your child’s bag prior to the payment deadline.

As this is an event on school site during school time, all children will attend the pantomime. If you do not wish for your child to attend the panto, please let us know using the link.
