  • Directions for Parents’ Evening

    Thu 12 Feb 2026

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We are looking forward to welcoming you into school for our Spring term parents’ evenings on Tuesday and Thursday.

All appointments will be held in your child’s classroom.  If your child’s class is in the infant block (including Year 4 Wallabies) please enter via the main Meadow Reception and walk along the corridor to your child’s classroom.  Please note the external doors that you pick up and drop off from each day will not be open.  You can only access the classrooms through the main indoor corridor.

If your child’s classroom is in the junior block (Year 3 to Year 6), the white door behind the bike shelter will be open for you to access the KS2 classrooms.  Year 6 classes will be along that corridor.  RacoonsCoyotes and Armadillos.  The remaining classes can be reached by walking past Year 6, along the main corridor where the school hall is and then turning right at the end.  Year 4 (Possums and Dingoes) followed by Year 3 (Leopards and Pandas) are on the ground floor.  Year 3 (Gibbons) and Year 5 (Aardvarks, Antelopes and Impalas) are upstairs.

The children’s books will be also available for you to look through.

We hope this is helpful in you being able to locate your child’s classroom.

    Yours sincerely,

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We are holding a non-uniform day and a Neon/Spring Term Disco, hosted by Mirror Image Disco, for the children on Monday 23rd February 2026.

All children from Nursery to Year 6 are invited to come into school on this day in non-uniform for a £1 donation.  As the disco has a neon theme, if the children wish to wear something neon as part of their non-uniform, they are welcome to. All the infant children will attend the disco during the afternoon for around 25 minutes.  Although infant children will not be able to buy sweets and refreshments during their time at the disco, small prizes will be awarded which the children will have the chance to win.

Our KS2 children are invited to attend the disco after school from 3:10pm – 4:30pm.  We have now moved over to an online ordering and payment system.  Please note that as we have moved to an online system, we will not be accepting any cash payments.  Please click on the link below to purchase tickets.

    www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1981442138776?aff=addtdtcreator

Tickets are £5 each.  Please complete all questions accurately to help our volunteers with the event. Ticket sales will close on Saturday 21st February at 6pm.

Children must have purchased a ticket prior to the event to attend and entry is limited to junior pupils as the infants will have attended a shorter session in the afternoon on that day.  Refreshments, sweets and light up accessories will be on sale for the junior children and there will be spot prizes and games.  If you would like your child to buy sweets/drinks, please send money in a named purse or wallet with them on the day of the disco.  Please ensure your child brings his/her money and comes into school in non-uniform that morning, as the office staff are not able to take money or clothes to children throughout the day.

When collecting your child(ren) at 4.30pm, please wait outside of the old junior main entrance (near the car park) and a member of staff will call each year group separately.  When you have collected your child from the hall, please continue along the corridor and out of the side entrance, where you can walk along the path to the main gates.  Please note, all children must be collected by an adult after the disco, even if you have given permission for them walker as this event finishes outside of the school day.

Many thanks.  I am sure a great time will be had by all!

    Yours sincerely,

  • Year 2 – Curious Creatures Animal Experience

    Thu 05 Feb 2026

    Dear Year 2 Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to announce that as part of our Spring Science topic exploring habitats, we have arranged for our Year 2 children to enjoy an amazing animal experience morning on Tuesday 24th March 2026

The morning will consist of an educational workshop linking to the children’s learning about habitats, including microhabitats and food chains. The experts bringing this experience to life are ‘Curious Creatures’ and were at our school Summer Fayre last year. They can also be found on Facebook if you would like to learn more about them.

In order for the experience morning to go ahead, we kindly ask for a contribution of £2.85 per child. The amount of £2.85 will have been showing on Parent Pay since September, so some people may have already paid. If you are unable to pay for this online, please see the school office for a barcoded letter. Please make payment on or before 12pm on Friday 27th February 2026.

Please note that if insufficient contributions are received, we would have to consider cancelling the visit. If you have any difficulty with the cost, please come in and talk to us.

Please follow the below link to complete the consent and intent form as soon as possible:

Year 2 Curious Creatures in-school visit - Tuesday 24th March 2026 – Fill in form

This consent form will need to be completed, even if you have paid for the encounter.

This is to be completed in addition to the Parent Pay payment, to enable your child to hold the animals if they wish to. Without this consent, your child will not be able to handle the animals.

  • Internet Safety Day - Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th February 2026

    Tue 03 Feb 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Safer Internet Day will take place on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th February 2026, with a focus this year on making safe choices online and the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence). Each and every day, across the school, we reinforce and model online safety to our children and we hope that our focus on making safe choices protects our children from harmful opportunities, now and in the future as technology continues to develop.

We are pleased to announce that OpenView Education will once again be working with our children from Reception through to Year 6 on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th February 2026, through a range of workshops to empower our children with practical skills to build digitally resilient pupils. The workshops will be age appropriate and use a range of theatre, drama and role play to support the childrens better understanding of the online world.

As part of our online safety at Olton, we would like to take the opportunity for parents to digitally sign our online safety agreement that we share with our children. These are a set of groundrules that our children must follow in school in order to access the broad range of online opportunities as part of our curriculum. In order to sign for your child, please select the correct phase and complete the form. Class teachers will be reiterating the safe usage agreement and will follow up any non digitally signed agreements.

  • Online Booking System for Parents’ Evening Appointments (Nursery to Year 6)

    Thu 22 Jan 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

We are holding our Autumn Term Parents’ Evenings on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th February 2026 and for these, parents will be able to make an appointment using the online booking system. Appointments will be in person, in your child’s classroom and will be offered from 3:30pm – 6:30pm on both evenings.

Our unique website through which you can book appointments is: https://olton.schoolcloud.co.uk/.

You will log in to the system by adding your details and those of your child, including your child’s date of birth. The parents evening system uses the details we hold on the SIMS school system. If it does not allow you to log in, please check that you have used your child’s full name or tried the legal name and preferred name. You can add in an email address you wish to use for confirmation and reminders of your chosen appointment time.

Attached with this letter is a Parents’ Guide for Booking Appointments which should take you through the process step by step. You will be able to book appointments through the online portal from 4pm on Friday 23rd January 2026.

We hope that you find the online booking system quick and easy to use. It should allow you to book the most convenient slot based on availability and for you to co-ordinate appointments, as necessary, if you have more than one child at our school.

If your child is also part of Chameleons class, taught by Miss Jordan, please book an appointment with your child’s class teacher as normal on the online booking system and Miss Jordan will join the class teacher for the appointment time. If your child joins our Robins intervention group, Mrs Chatterley will give your child’s class teacher information about their time in Robins which they will share with you in the meeting.

If you are having any problems logging in, please contact the school office who can offer support.

    Yours sincerely,

  • World Book Day - Books Order Reminder

    Wed 21 Jan 2026

    Dear Parents/Carers,

Each year, for World Book Day, children of school age (Reception - Year 6) are given a £1 voucher which they can use at retailors such as Waterstones and TGJones (formally WHSmith), in exchange for either one of the £1 world book day books or they can use it to save £1 on a different book of their choice. Unfortunately, on many occasions, when we reach the shops, most of the £1 books have already been sold and so the children miss out on owning their own book.

However, this year, I have been in contact with TGJones (formally WHSmith) and we have the opportunity to pre-order the £1 books again. This means that each child is able to pre-order and select from the list below, which book they would like. The school would then exchange the voucher on the child's behalf and instead of coming home with a voucher, your child will come home with their very own book.

If you would like your child to bring home one of the £1 books on World Book Day rather than the £1 voucher, please ensure you have pre-ordered the book using the Microsoft Form link https://forms.office.com/e/nmvCcaBd4b

In order for us to take advantage of this, we must receive the orders from yourselves by Thursday 29th January.

On the World Book Day website, they have all the books on offer to us and when you click on each one, it will provide some information about the book and a short video from the author. Please take some time to look through the books and help your child decide which book they would like in exchange for the £1 voucher. There are a few book options which are only available in Wales or Ireland and so you won't be able to order these unfortunately.

    https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/

If we haven't received an order from you by Thursday 29th January, we will presume that you do not wish to pre-order and so your child will receive a voucher on the day instead.

This is a fabulous opportunity and I am sure lots of you will take up the opportunity to pre-order these books.

    Miss F Jordan

    Assistant Head Teacher
