Dear Parents/Carers,
Please be advised that due to the rain, Netball Club has had to cancel this afternoon. I am very sorry for any inconvenience caused. I am hopeful for much better weather in the coming weeks. I will ensure the children know it is cancelled and unless you tell us otherwise, we will assume their end of day routine is the same as on normal days.
Thank you for your continued support,
Miss Walton
Good morning! Olton Primary will be closed today due to the snow overnight and current conditions on local roads. Class teachers will post a message with some ideas for optional activities for the children and of course they would love to see photographs of any snow sculptures that are created today.
Keep safe and I look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday.
Mr Chamberlain
Head Teacher

Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year to you all! I hope that you managed to have a good break with your families. It was lovely to welcome all of the children back into school yesterday with a surprise sprinkling of snow. There are lots of strong suggestions from the Met Office and BBC Weather that on Thursday evening through to Friday morning that our area might be affected by Storm Goretti and this may bring some snow along with it.
In order to be as prepared as we possibly can be for heavy snow that might lead to us making the decision that the school site is either not safe to open, or that travel for both our families and staff is not safe, the following communication will be used to keep you up to date of any plans.
From 6am, our site team and staff who live locally will assess the conditions of the school site and associated roads. By 7am, if there is a significant risk to opening the school site and ways to make this safer cannot be put into place, we shall use Class Dojo in the first instance to notify everyone. As a parent myself, time is of the essence in organising any necessary childcare, so please do check Class Dojo. If school is open as usual, we shall message to re-assure everyone.
I am hoping that our forward planning and being super organised will mean we will not need to put the plan into action! In the event of school closure, children across the school will be able to access TT Rockstars in KS2. Class Teachers may put optional tasks on their class dojo for pupils to access if they wish. Photographs of snowy adventures and sculptures made in the snow can also be sent in to Class Dojo too.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Chamberlain
Head Teacher
Dear Year 6 Parents/Carers,
We are excited to announce that this year our Year 6 Leavers Performance will take place at The Dovehouse Theatre on Thursday 2nd July 2026. Performing at the theatre makes the children's final show at Olton extra special and it's a lovely celebration of their time with us. The theatre has capacity for 162 seats and so as we have a year group of 90 children so we will be selling 1 ticket per child to start with. We will then do a second release of tickets for you to secure another one, on a first come first serve basis, if you would like to. If you would like to secure an initial first ticket, please reply to this form by Friday 9th January 2026. After this date, the tickets will be added to Parent Pay with a cost of £4 each payable by Friday 30th January 2026. Please be advised that if a ticket is not paid for by the payment deadline, it will be offered to someone else.

An update on the above event.
Good afternoon, Parent/Carers of Year 2,
We wanted to make you all aware, the above trip can now go ahead, due to the kindness of a small number of Year 2 Parents who contacted me and offered and paid the shortfall that was outstanding.
This is with a very special ‘Thank you’ to each of them.
Many thanks,
Mrs T. Chakmak

Good afternoon, Parents/Carers,
Mr Chamberlain has confirmed that due to the shortfall for the above trip he will make a final decision by tomorrow.
As you know we rely on Parental Contributions for events/trips to go ahead, and should full contributions not be received for event/trips they would need to be cancelled. Unfortunately, the school Budget is not in a position to cover the shortfall. We have allowed as much time as we can regarding the payment due date, with this being last Friday. As a school we have to comply with the terms and conditions for Venues/Coaches/Organisers, in order that we do not get charged should the event/trip be cancelled.
Therefore, if you have not paid, and can pay, could you kindly make the payment of £6.70 by lunchtime tomorrow 16/12/2025 via ParentPay, in order that a decision can be made by the end of the day, as to whether we can go ahead or would it need to be cancelled.
Please note, If we do have to cancel and you have paid, you will receive a full refund.
Many thanks
Kind regards,
Mrs T Chakmak

Dear Parents/Carers,
We have previously shared with you the dates for our EYFS and KS1 Christmas performances this year and this letter includes the links you need to reserve spaces at the performance you wish to attend. Unfortunately, due to the capacity of our hall (which includes the children performing) we are only able to accommodate two adults per family. This could mean two people at one performance or one person at each of the performances. If you choose the option of one person at each performance, please complete two separate forms using relevant the link below.
This year, our Nursery and Reception children are performing together, as an EYFS phase, on Wednesday 17th December at 9:15am and 2:00pm. Please use the link below to book a place at the performance you will be attending.

Our KS1 children will perform their Christmas play at school on Monday 15th December at 2:00pm and Tuesday 16th December at 9:15am. Please use the link below to book a place at the performance you will be attending.

The KS1 children will also perform at Lyndon Church on Thursday 18th December in the morning but, unfortunately we are not able to invite parents to watch this performance due to space in the church.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to enjoy Christmas with us at Olton.
